THE STORY OF PROJECT LITTLE BEAR

In 2019, Paul connected with staff at the Little Bear Child & Youth Advocacy Centre in honour of his late father, Marcel Laberge. Paul shared that his father had experienced childhood sexual abuse and that Marcel had always wanted to give back to Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services. The idea of Project Little Bear was brought to life by bringing together students, teachers, service providers and community members. In memory of his father, Paul’s goal is to enhance feelings of comfort and safety for the children and youth going through a difficult time while accessing Little Bear services.

HOW IT WORKS

Project Little Bear encourages the community to gather items that will aid in the services and supports at Little Bear each fall. These items are crucial to ensuring feelings of comfort and security for children, youth and adults as they navigate the justice system. This initiative creates compassion and empathy in students, schools, and the community.

ITEM IDEAS

Items donated to support this project include: toys, craft supplies, blankets, stuffed animals (bears always welcome), journals/notebooks, toiletries, backpacks, Lego, action figures, and more! New items are preferred as this project focuses on comfort and safety for clients of Little Bear.
