The next First Responder to Sexual Assault and Abuse Training is scheduled for November 28-29, 2017.

Private trainings with a minimum of 15 people can be booked. Contact a First Responders Facilitator at 306-825-8255.

The First Responder to Sexual Assault and Abuse Training is an Alberta wide program, dedicated to educating participants on how to effectively respond to disclosures of sexual abuse and assault. The two-day training focuses on responding skills, impacts of sexual abuse (both children and adults), sexual harassment, and prevention. The goals of the training are to educate individuals on the social, cultural and legal aspects of sexual violence and enable them to recognize, define and respond appropriately. Recommended for front line workers, parents, teachers, health care, mental health, RCMP and victim services – anyone interested in making a shift in this issue!

I feel better equipped to respond to a disclosure and know that I can help them.

Namaste Strong: Yoga Day for Awareness

The Namaste Strong Committee are busy planning a second Yoga Day for Awareness! Check back for updates soon!

Everything starts from the ground up; from small businesses and community organizations to family farms. Our “ground up” goal is literally from the ground up; as LSAIC grows the need for expansion and renovation grows too. At this stage, we are looking to repair and refurbish the basement in our 1927 community building. The vision we have includes a community training and education space plus a creative integration room. LSAIC would like to cultivate family relationships by encouraging families to support families, creating a community space that will last a lifetime. We are asking families and organizations to donate towards our ground up goal of $125,000. This venture is not possible without support; just as a seed is planted or a calf is nurtured, our Centre needs the extra care to grow. This area will be named “The Farmer’s Floor” and those who donate $500+ will be displayed on a feature wall hand painted by the talented Michelle Lake, local artist.
